A definition, followed by the real life implications.
Rockstar Behavior: assuming the attitudes of a person who has gained fame and acclaim for their musical performance, stage antics and (usually) screaming.
If you are accused of having 'Rockstar Behavior' it is not necessarily good. This could mean you are demanding a little too much of your bandmates, manager, girlfriend, etc. and not enough from yourself. If you want credit, you better do work. Otherwise you are just another pampered prima donna, not a successful musician.
Rockstar behavior is pretty fun, let's face it. It seems like everyone would think you are 'so cool' if you throw TVs into pools (on top of the girl you just threw in the pool) and then light up a cigarette. The truth is, as an artist you need to make contacts, and talk to people, and remember who they are the next time you see them if you want them to help you, or to promote you. Some assholes do make it in this world, but it is easier if you are just respectful and considerate.
Guru: the Beatles had one, and they spent a good amount of time listening to him, and exploring their minds and their beliefs. I believe this is one of the reasons they continued to make good music after seemingly reaching the apex of super-stardom.
If you are called a guru, take a good long look at who you are talking to. You can tell them anything and they will believe you.
Prima Donna: one who assumes they are the first, last, and every wonderful thing on this earth. They may or may not be talented, but they do believe they are the most talented thing to grace your presence.
If you are called a 'prima donna' you should take yourself down a peg. Listen to what advice people give you. Even if you do not follow their advice, realize that you don't know everything. A true prima donna will probably remain oblivious to this warning, and the warnings of those around them to get off the high horse, and rejoin the real world.
Producer: one who takes a simple track and tweaks it until it is radio gold. In the KRS-1 sense of the word, a producer is one who creates something good or useful, and contributes to the community. In the regular dirty music industry, a producer is someone who utilizes programs like pro-tools to take the harsh edge off of a recording, and make the whole thing sound great (even in tiny tinny car speakers)
Just because you have used Garage Band, Pro-tools, or a music program does not make you a producer. If people listen to your music and give you a blank stare, it is probably not quite up there with the greats. If they listen and then ask 'Who is this? I can dig this' then you are on the right track.
